How many of your readers entering that perilous 40-55 age bracket wonder what they will be doing with the “rest of their life?”
That was hardly a problem in 1900, when life expectancy was 48. But now it’s 78, so they have an extra 30 years. Will those be joyful and exciting years, full of accomplishment and satisfaction? Or will they be a series of “less”: less money, less power, less control, less hair, less strength, and less fun?
In America, the direction one’s life takes is mostly up to them. Starting to save at 25 or 30 makes sense (and, later, many more cents). Yet starting to plan at about 40 or 45 may be critical to determining what they’ll be doing, and where, at 60, 70, 80, and later.
